The Golden Doodle is a relatively new hybrid breed developed in the 1990’s. It is a cross between the French Poodle and the Golden Retriever. Because they are a mix between two pure breeds they are less prone to illness and congenital defects. The Golden Doodle carries key traits of each of its parent breeds. This results in high intelligence that makes them highly trainable, and a low to non-shedding coat which is good for people with allergies. These dogs are friendly and energetic making great family pets. Because of their quiet personality they are less prone to bark. Their intelligence and trainability make them good service dogs, and their amiable personality make them ideal companions for the elderly, the ill, and the hospital bound.
